Morning Margarita

This past week I've been using one of the new soaps from our friends Kelly and Kasey at Biggs & Featherbelle.

Tequila Bar is my new favorite.  It's made with sea salt, lime and essential oils. In the shower each morning, it smells just like a Margarita.  Really refreshing.  It reminds me of being on a beach vacation somewhere. Not a bad way to start the day!

...and If I thought there was any tequila in it, I might just be tempted to wash my mouth out with it.

We've carried Biggs & Featherbelle's original scents flavors products for years.  The names give you a hint at some of the ingredients contained in each soap.  Granola Bar® contains oatmeal, wheatgerm & honey.  Beach Bar® has sea salt and eucalyptus. Bark™ is made with cedarwood.  Goodie Bar® is a soothing mix of macadamia nut oil, cocoa butter, almond oil & goat's milk.

Kasey & Kelly launched some new bars recently.  In addition to the original varieties, the farmhouse store now carries Lemon Bar (shea butter & lemongrass), Bar-lamint (peppermint, rosemary & lavender), Koala Bar (eucalyptus, tea tree & spearmint) and quite a few others.

The soaps don't just smell terrific; they feel great, too.  Very smooth and gentle enough for your face.  And each bar can last several weeks.

Biggs & Featherbelle soaps are handmade with unique recipes to meet the needs of different skin types, using the properties of natural resources to heal and nourish. Every ingredient is purposeful and free from synthetic fragrances, dyes and additives.

We also have Lip Balms, Body Scrubs, Bath Soaks and Gift Sets in many of the same great Biggs & Featherbelle combinations.

And because we often get asked what Biggs & Featherbelle means, here is is straight from Kelly & Kasey's website: Biggs & Featherbelle are somewhat fictional. Biggs is a character inspired from our kitty cat named Diesel. Featherbelle is a fusion of Kelly & Kasey. You'll see a little cartoon kitty and the fabulous Miss Featherbelle depicted on the label of each of their products

Come pick up a few bars. Once you try one, you'll want to sample them all.

Westfield in Bloom

This week, the town of Westfield hosted the judges from America In Bloom.

Last year, Westfield was one of the finalists in this nationwide beautification program thanks to the amazing "Westfield In Bloom" program. This year we are going to win!

Kudos to our fabulously green thumbed manager Faith for bringing the front (and back) of our store to life. The Farmhouse Store is the prettiest storefront in town.

farmhouse tables

The only place to start is with our farmhouse tables. Visiting my grandparents in South Dakota, I used to love to climb up into the hayloft and peer down on the cows. Hard to believe that 40 years later we're selling tables made from reclaimed barnwood like in my grandpa's barn.

People ask us everyday if the wood in our tables is old or new. The farmhouse store barnwood collection is handcrafted using antique barn boards carefully reclaimed from old barns and mills. The wood is between 100 ande 200 years old. People are drawn to the barnwood tables because they bring back memories like those of barns in South Dakota. And because they know that sitting around a farmhouse table will create memories and stories to come...
